Tracing its Napier origins back to 1864, Langley Twigg is the most long-established law firm in Hawke's Bay. It is also the largest with six partners and 40 staff, including seven solicitors and seven legal executives representing many hundreds of personal and business clients in Hawke's Bay and throughout New Zealand.
Partner Stuart McLauchlan spoke with E2theMax about their long association with Gen-i and the technology that streamlines the everyday management of thousands of vital documents and critical transactions. Below are excerpts from the interview.
“We have always had the need for specialist support and advice for our business IT network.
“On Gen-I’s recommendation we moved from networked PCs to a server based Citrix system several years ago, immediately eliminating the admin hassle and expense of keeping individual machines running well.
"Our needs are for a flexible but stable platform, reduced costs,
reduced admin, a strong preventative maintenance program, automated and effective backup processes, prompt help in crises, flexible pricing with risk sharing and remote access. We also need to integrate the use of software that’s particular to our industry and more standard applications.
“The Gen-i team delivers on this. We like the people, the local face of a national enterprise that’s big enough to have the resources and backup we need.
“We have an annual strategic meeting with Gen-i that’s been very effective. We meet to discuss objectives, avoid any potential crises and to get their ideas on what we want to achieve.
“The people at Gen-i are really pleasant to deal with and accommodating in their work patterns to fit in with us. When a problem does occur, the coalface engineers deal to it with a roll-up-the-sleeves and sort-it-out attitude.
“And it’s not all just about work. There’s a social aspect as well. They’re part of our team - it’s good to know the people behind the business.”
